Finance: (Bev Cabellon):

Bev confirmed that we have adequate budget for our planned activities in 2024.

Membership: (Nancy Briest)

Nancy introduced the new members: Melissa Ross, Barushka Sedlar-Sholty, Nora Wittenberg, Jennifer Holden and Michelle Oliviera. Nancy thanked everyone who has referred new members.

Guest Day (4/16): (Ann Pons for Diane Beere and Denise Reed)

Ann said plans for our best (and only) Guest Day of 2024 are in full swing and theme is “Spring has Sprung, So Let’s Have Some Fun”. Details and signup forms are on the website. Guests must have a current GHIN number and handicap and do not have to be Crow Canyon members.

Major Tournaments: (Linda Fromm)

Linda handed out a sheet with details on the major tournaments for 2024. The Team Challenge is May 7 & 14, with team draw (pizza?) party on May 1. Member/Member tournament is June 4 & 11. CCWGA Club Championship is September 10 & 17.

Invitational: (Cheri Stoudt)

Cheri said that plans are going well for the 2 1⁄2 day invitational on July 17-19. The theme for this year’s tournament is “Margaritaville”, so get ready to wear your loudest Hawaiian shirts. Due to planned construction in the ballroom, we will utilize the pool area, the Vintage, and possibly an outdoor tent area.

Team Play: (Dorothy Keen EBTP and Stephanie Lee DVTP)

Dorothy and Stephanie explained the tournament format (two person team, 1 best net ball) and the number of tournaments. Both EBTP and DVTP seasons start in April. Signups will be available on the website shortly and anyone interested is encouraged to sign up. Many members were sporting the team shirt which is available for purchase from the pro shop. This team shirt will be used for two seasons.

Rules: (Darlene Lethin-Patch)

Darlene coordinated two rules seminars in January, and over 30 CCWGA members  attended. Suzanne Olsen and Jake Saito presented and demonstrated various rules on- course and inside. Pat Rocero videotaped the second session and it will be available to any member. Ann Pons commented that the rules seminar was very valuable. Darlene is conducting a rules class on Match Play (used for our Team Play events) on Monday 3/11 from 9-10 am. Please sign up if you are interested in Team Play.

Crow Canyon Management Update: (Troy Croghan)

Troy Croghan gave an update and fielded questions about Bay Club Crow Canyon and the priorities and future plans for the club. He started with the operating model for Bay Club: Fitness/Hospitality/Sports/Family. Biggest areas of improvement at Crow Canyon are fitness and family (kid’s camps).

Starting in July, there will be no outside events, prioritizing the existing facilities for current members. The upstairs ballroom area is planned to be converted into fitness facilities including exercise class areas, cycle salon and installation of workout machines. The upstairs kitchen will be downsized and the fate of the Eugene O’Neill room is unclear. They may install a smoothie machine. Management will conduct meetings with the members to review the plans and options once they are more fully developed. The Vintage furnishings will be refreshed and made more flexible to better accommodate member events. Management is communicating with the Crow Canyon HOA to keep them informed on the plans.

The priorities for the golf course improvement are:

1. Drainage. Many drainpipes are broken or clogged.

2. Tree removal

3. Improving course play (trees, pace of play)

4. Tees and Greens

Driving range plans include constructing a building for golf instruction, building a new chipping, sand and putting area at the (elevated) end of the driving range, moving the mats into the hitting area and putting a walkway and seating where the mats are now, installing hitting nets and raising the net at the back of the range to catch more balls. Troy also talked about expansion of the pickleball courts, renovation of the current pool area and longer term construction of a second pool, management of the Vintage restaurant and member discount in the Vintage.

Palmira thanked Troy for taking the time to talk to us.

Meeting was adjourned by Palmira at 3:48 pm.
