BOARD MEETING MINUTES

CCWGA Board Meeting Minutes – 4/9/24

Captain Palmira Brandt called the meeting to order at 1:22 pm.

Attendance 13 members: Diane Beere, Palmira Brandt, Bev Cabellon, Debbie Budd, Louise Fong,  Linda Fromm, Lisa Hatchett, Dorothy Keen, Stephanie Lee, Darlene Lethin Patch, Sandi Rose, Cheri  Stoudt and Lynn Wheeler.

Minutes from last board meeting on 2/6/24: Motion to approve minutes as submitted was made by Darlene Lethin Patch and seconded by Bev Cabellon. Voted and passed.

TREASURER, BEV CABELLON

Bev reported that we are on budget with a healthy bank account. The current bank balance is $9257 after paying our NCGA dues. There is $100 charge outstanding for refreshments at our two rules seminars that has not yet been billed by Bay Club.

CAPTAIN, PALMIRA BRANDT

Palmira will attend the Golf Committee meeting tonight. Suggestions on items to bring up  were: garbage cans and ball washers, and leaving a few tee times open before our Tuesday playdays.

Lynn requested that the CCWGA Standing Rules (attached) be updated to:

·  make Golf Genius the official scorecard which would make the players responsible for  marking their own scores correctly

·  remove scoring verbiage from under the "Handicapping" section.

·   add World Handicapping System (WHS) responsibility for calculating handicaps under "Handicapping"

·   update exceptions wording under the "Weekly Tournament Rules."

Also, change to having 1 paper scorecard for each group, instead of individual scorecards on Play Days. The pro shop can make 2 copies of the group scorecard, but only 1 with all the signatures needs to be turned in along with the posting of Golf Genius. Sandi Rose motioned to accept, Cheri Stoudt seconded, and carried by voice vote

RULES, DARLENE LETHIN PATCH

Darlene has received positive feedback on the weekly rules emails she has distributed. There are two upcoming USGA rules webinars, and they will be recorded and made available to those who cannot attend. She thanked Pat Rocero and Stefanie Lee for posting the videos from the recent rule seminars on the website. Updated match play rules will be posted on the website.

Darlene also called to our attention the 2024 local rules which include taking relief from aeration holes on the green with no penalty. Local rules for 2024 will be posted on the website this week.

TOURNAMENTS, SANDI ROSE

There was a discussion about using "X" and when to leave blank on the scorecard. If a player picks up, an X plus the maximum score will be recorded on the paper scorecard and in Golf Genius the score without the X will be recorded. If a player quits and does not complete the round, all unplayed holes are left blank both in Golf Genius and the paper scorecard. The CCWGA Standing Rules will be updated to reflect these clarifications.

MEMBERSHIP, NANCY BRIEST (absent, no report)

SOCIAL, BARB MEHAN (absent, no report)

HANDICAP, LOUISE FONG

Louise reported she is doing some housekeeping on the USGA portal. She also said that Stef Lee posts handicap reports on the 1st and 15th of each month.

Lynn Wheeler handed out an explanation from USGA (attached) on how to post scores where not all 18 holes are played. It was suggested that we give this to Stef to post on the website.

ECLECTIC & NCGA CLUB REPRESENTATIVE, LYNN WHEELER

No further discussion other than Standing Rules

WEBSITE, STEF LEE (absent)

MAJOR TOURNAMENTS, LINDA FROMM

Linda reported that 16 golfers have signed up for the Team Challenge event May 7 & 14. 3 golfers have signed up to play the second round. Bev verified that the budget allows $150 for food for the draw party and $400 for prizes. Linda is working with Events staff on the draw party details.

Next tournament after the Team Challenge is the Member-Member, starting June 5. Signups will be posted in early May.

INVITATIONAL 7/17-19, CHERI STOUDT

Cheri proposed that the theme for the invitational is “Margaritaville” and the format will be the same as previous years (2 best net balls with eclectic improvement on day 2). Cost will be $240 per person (not including carts). Both days are morning starts. Registration forms will be sent out on April 15. Lynn made a motion to approve the proposed format and cost, Darlene seconded and motion passed.

MINI-INVITATIONAL 10/22, TERESA HOWARD (no report)

EBTP, DOROTHY KEEN

Dorothy said that Rosmary is working to get the teams and captains defined for the tournaments and Dorothy will provide the list of players and their handicaps and provide the final scoring. She said that they use the handicaps from the 1st or 15th of the month, depending on the date of the tournament.

Dorothy also mentioned that the EBTP competition at Ruby Hill is the same day as the Member-Member tournament.

DVTP, STEPHANIE LEE & DEBBIE BUDD

Stephanie reported that the first tournament is at Discovery Bay on 4/23 and it has been difficult to fill the team. For DVTP, Stephanie sends in the list of players with the most recent handicaps.

GUEST DAY 4/16, DIANE BEERE

Diane reported that 76 players (19 teams) have signed up for the guest day and she is meeting with Jake tomorrow to finalize the details. Jake has been generous with prizes for the event. Lunch will be salad bar with three protein choices. She has a spreadsheet for the billing which she will give to Jake and Kimka to administer.

OPEN DAY 7/30, PATTY LIN (absent, no report)

PLAY FOR PINK 10/15, TERI JOHNSON (absent, no report)

HISTORIAN, PAT ROCERO (absent, no report)

MISCELLANEOUS.

4C9Rs: Lynn said that the 4C9ers have ratified a by-law change to allow their members to also join  the CCWGA 18 hole group. Players must have a maximum handicap of 36 from the red tees to join  CCWGA. Golfers joining both groups must pay the NCGA fee twice. Lisa mentioned that the NCGA does give a partial

refund to golfers who belong to more than one group and the refund procedure is  announced in August. CCWGA members are allowed to join the 4C9ers.

Captain Palmira Brandt adjourned the meeting at 2:21 pm.
