BOARD MEETING MINUTES

CCWGA Board Meeting Minutes 

January 6, 2026

Attendance: 

• Executive Board:  Joanne Severs (Co-Captain), Melissa Ross (Secretary), Bev Cabellon (Treasurer), Lisa Hatchett (Rules), Pat Rocero (Tournaments), Nancy Briest (Membership), Lynn Wheeler (Advisor), Barb Mehan (Social)  [Absent:  Patty Lin (Captain), Louise Fong(Handicap)]

• Appointed Chairs:  Ann Pons, Palmira Brandt, Mary Miller, Cheri Stoudt, Darlene Patch 

Meeting called to order at 1:02 

1. Executive Board Reports

A. The previous board meeting minutes were provided by Darlene Patch (past Secretary), reviewed and approved with minor corrections.   

B. Bev Cabellon (Treasurer) distributed and reviewed the proposed 2026 budget.  Members should email Bev with suggested updates or changes.   The final budget will be approved at a future board meeting.  

C.  Joanne Severs (Co-Captain) lead the following discussions: 

I. The 2026 Calendar was reviewed as follows:   

• Team Challenge:  4/21;  4/28

• Guest Day:  6/9

• Member/Member:  6/2 &  6/16

• Invitational:  7/15 to 7/17

• Club Championship:  9/1 & 9/8

• Mini Invitational:  9/18 & 9/19

• General Meetings:  2/3, 9/8, 10/27

Discussion followed.   Calendar dates are approved other than: 

• Lynn will double check that the Have-A-Ball does not happen on the same week of the Invitational.  (Post Meeting Update:  the Have-A-Ball is July 20, and not the same week as the Invitational.) 

• Additional board discussion will be needed in the upcoming  March board meeting (if not sooner) on the dates of the Mini Invitational (as Jen Holden was not present); dates of the Mini Invitational should be listed as “To be approved” in the general meeting agenda.   (Post Meeting Update:  the dates for the Mini Invitational were confirmed by Dylan; the men have a Member/Member on the following Saturday so Dylan worked it out that both the men and women have a dedicated Saturday.) 

• Lynn will double check that the club championship occurs before the winners need to be submitted to the NCGA.  (Post Meeting Update:  the winners for 2026 do not need to be submitted until 2027, so this date is OK.) 

II. Board Meeting tee times are the first three tee times of the board meeting day. 

III.  Joanne reviewed the agenda for upcoming General Meeting (Feb 3)  meeting, which will include: 

• Introduction from Patty Lin

• Club Update from Darren

• Tournament Calendar Dates and Details (Invite a Guest Day, Invitational theme, Team Play, etc)

• Golf Genius and Play Day Standards (Pat Rocero)

• Rules Training announcement (Lisa H)

• Website and Roster Demo (Stef Lee)  

D. Lisa Hatchett (Rules) shared that there are no known rule changes for 2026 at the club.   Lisa will be hosting a few “live” outdoor rules seminars in the upcoming months, plus a few “virtual”  Zoom meetings (dates TBD).     Lisa suggested that players pair up (be markers) and keep track of another player’s score during the round. 

E.  Pat Rocero (Tournaments) presented a plan for standardizing how tournaments are conducted to make things easier for the Pro Shop and the tournament chair, and to speed up pace of play.  Pat will share this at the February General Meeting.      Golf Genius is a requirement, the cut-off time for submitting scores to Golf Genius will remain at 3:00PM, and maximum scores will be standardized at net double bogey.   

F.   Nancy Briest (Membership) shared that there are currently 79 members in CCWGA.   Pat Bringle rejoined in 2026 after skipping 2025, and Rae Tettinger had indicated that she would rejoin.  Three others are attempting to join but handicaps are too high.    Nancy will meet with Melanie Emig about promoting CCWGA membership more broadly at Crow Canyon.  

G.   Barb Mehan (Social) announced that there is a lunch planned at the general meeting Lunch on Feb 3, $28 inclusive. 

H. Louise Fong (Handicap) was not present.  

I.  Joanne Severs (Co-Captain) shared that there are 59 people signed up for the Eclectic, including 10 from the gold tees. 

J.  Lynn Wheeler (Advisor) had nothing additional to report. 

2. Appointed Board Reports:

• Stef Lee (Website Administrator) was not present.

• Mary Miller (Major Tournaments) had nothing to report. 

• Cheri Stoudt (Invitational) will provide an update at the Feb 3 general meeting; This year’s theme is western (rhinestone cowgirl). 

• Jen Holden (Mini-Invitational) was not present. 

• Darlene Patch (EBTP) requested that the Team Play (DVTP/EBTP) sign-up links be posted to the website.  

• Debbie Budd, Stephanie Lee (DVTP) were not present. 

• Palmira Brandt (Guest Day) announced that Guest day will be June 9. 

• Ann Pons (Open Days) proposed that “Invite a Guest” to replace the scheduled “Open Day” on March 31.   The event will include a cart fee, but no breakfast or lunch.  It will be a shotgun start and players will be required to have a GHIN.  Barb motioned to approve and Melissa seconded.  All approved.  

• Robin Morris (Historian) was not present, but Lynn Wheeler reported (on Robin’s behalf) that there has been a Facebook page set-up and she invites members to join.  The page is called “Crow Canyon Country Club 18-holers”.  Robin is planning to be at events at least an hour ahead of tee off and if requested will take a group picture.  All pictures will be on the website and a sampling of pictures on the bulletin board.  This will save on printing and space on the bulletin board.
