October 14, 2025
Executive Board Attendees: Lynn Wheeler, Patty Lin, Louise Fong, Bev Cabellon, Barb Mehan, Nancy Briest
Absent: Palmira Brandt, Lisa Hatchett, Darlene Lethin Patch.
Appointed Chairs Attendees: Cathy Koubek, Joanne Severs, Dorothy Keene, Nancy Moore, Pat Rocero, Teri Johnson.
Meeting started at 1.05pm.
1. Previous Board (9/2) meeting minutes were reviewed and approved.
2. The CCWGA treasurer (Bev) reviewed the budget status and reported that the club would likely have a $3700 carryover, predominantly due to additional funds raised by the Mini invitational held in September. The chair of that tournament (Cathy Koubek) has recommended that after all expenses are completed the remaining funds should be donated to the Play-for-Pink charitable donation. This is recorded as a decision.
3. Captains update by Lynn:
a. It was proposed that the Play-for-Pink tournament will be organized and run by the Crow Canyon CC staff in 2026. Paula and Daren (Bay Club management) willingly agreed to this change, following the productive tournament held in October 2025. Pat and Teri will pass on useful details and lessons learned. The CCWGA committee position will be removed from our club committees. Agreement for proposal motioned by Barb and seconded by Patty, all attendees approved.
b. It was proposed that Crow Canyon members who are golf members can also be eligible to play in the Mini-Invitational tournament in 2026. After discussion on the conflict with our Standing Rules, Lynn motioned, and Barb seconded that a one-time exception be made to the CCWGA Standing Rules for 2026. All approved. It was noted that the day/date may also change.
c. Suggestions were requested for November General Meeting topics. Daren & Paula will be invited to present updates on the club. Lynn will invite them with questions to be answered.
4. The Play-for-Pink tournament update and details were provided by Teri and Pat: In summary, the change to a mixed tournament format was well received and attended, with $15.5K raised for the charity on the day ($2.6K increase compared to the previous year). This does not include the additional mini-invitational donation noted in item 2.
The increase was primarily due to the Club donating both raffle prizes and cart usage, so that $75 per attendee (of the $100 entrance fee) was directly donated to the charity. The committee thanked Pat and Teri (and all other volunteers) for a job very well done.
5. Membership: Nancy requested further reminders with amount due $110 be circulated for 2026 membership checks. Currently, she has received only 35 payments and noted that another 2 members will join the CCWGA in 2026.
6. Social Chair: Barb updated that for November 4th AGM, she will need headcount numbers by Oct 28th. Lunch will be $28 inclusive.
7. Mini-Invitational: Cathy reported that, with a total of 78 attendees, that the event made additional funds, as noted above. Final budget will depend on receipt of the invoice amount for catering (expecting $40++/pp).
8. Team Play: The final EBTP match at Ruby Hills is still to be played. Dorothy noted that team shirts for 2026/27 are expected to arrive this week.
